The story
The city is loud in every direction, and sometimes what someone needs is a dim tent, a cup of electrolytes, and a person trained to listen. Quiet Hours runs around the clock with two trained peer supporters on every shift. We are not medical and we are not therapy — we are the calm room, and we know when and how to walk someone to the professionals. This year's budget rebuilds our acoustic partitions, restocks supplies, and funds the training weekend for twenty new volunteers.
Dust, weather & logistics
Volunteer burnout is the real risk in a 24-hour operation, so shifts are short and doubled. Our escalation protocol was written with input from professional crisis counselors, and every volunteer completes the training weekend before taking a shift.
